Renewable Heat Incentive scheme

The Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) scheme and cost overruns, which could cost Northern Ireland taxpayers an estimated £490 million, has dominated the headlines in recent weeks.

The scheme was set up in November 2012 by the Northern Ireland Executive to help increase consumption of heat from renewable sources by offering long term financial incentives for installing renewable heat systems on premises.

A spike in applications has resulted in the scheme being close to £500 million over budget. As the political fallout unfolds, we are carefully monitoring the implications for our clients. Follow this page for updates from our NI team.
