We devote a significant amount of energy to supporting charities, social enterprises and community groups that our people are passionate about.
One of the ways we do this is by running a charity challenge each year in each of our offices, with a target of raising money for a staff-nominated charity. Each participant identifies personal development opportunities and progress is monitored by a 'Dragon's Den' style panel consisting of partners from around the firm.
Participants identify roles (Chair, Treasury, Marketing etc) and prepare a business plan to pitch to the panel. A calendar of events is created and the participants are mentored as they organise, promote and run fundraising events throughout the year, ranging from firm-wide dress down days and cake sales to sport-based team challenges.
Here are some examples:
- Our Manchester office is supporting the NSPCC. The team has been tasked with raising between £5,000 and £10,000 for the charity and has organised many events including a successful quiz night, a raffle, a comedy night and a bowl off.
- A team of 32 people from the firm’s Bristol, Glasgow and London offices climbed Ben Nevis to raise funds for our chosen Scottish charity partner, Ronald McDonald House at Yorkhill Hospital. To date the TLT Ben Nevis Challenge team has raised approximately £7,000 with donations still being received.
- Our Bristol office charity team raised over £17,000 for Wallace & Gromit's Grand Appeal through quiz nights, bake sales, dress down days and even the TLT equivalent of the 'Grand Auction'.
- As well as people-led fundraising, we make donations as a firm through the Quartet Community Foundation, which enables businesses to donate or fund projects that make a difference to the places where people live and work. This year we are supporting their 'Giveamonkeys' campaign, which aims to encourage 100 individuals, companies and SME's to donate to West Of England charities.
